Christmas Gifts for Someone Who Has Everything

Every family has one. The person who, when you ask what they'd like for Christmas, says "nothing, honestly". The trouble is they mean it. The cupboards are full, the drawers are full, and another candle won't change that.

The good news is that people who have everything are often the easiest to surprise, because the best gifts for them aren't things at all. They're time, attention and memories. Here are eight ideas.

1. A day out, just the two of you

Book something you'll do together: a matinee, a long lunch, a walk somewhere you both loved years ago. Put the plan in a card. The present is the day, and your company.

2. A letter they'll keep

Write down what they mean to you. One page, by hand. It costs nothing, and it's often the thing people keep the longest.

3. Their recipe, written up properly

Ask for their famous recipe, then give it back beautifully: typed up and framed, or bound into a little book with the rest of the family's favourites.

4. A photo that plays a video

This is where we come in. Choose a photo they love and add a short video, and we print the photo onto crystal glass, acrylic or canvas. When they point their phone at it, the video plays: the grandchildren singing, a wedding speech, a message from a son who lives abroad. It's one more thing on the shelf, but it's the one they'll pick up.

5. Something to do, not something to keep

A cookery class, a pottery afternoon, tickets to see a band they loved at twenty. Experiences don't need a drawer.

6. Their old photos, rescued

Most families have boxes of prints fading in a loft. Scan the best ones and give them back as a shared album, so the memories are safe and easy to look through.

7. A standing date

A voucher for a weekly phone call, a monthly walk or Sunday lunch at yours. It sounds silly on paper and turns out to be lovely in practice.

8. A gift card for a keepsake of their own

If you'd rather they chose the photo and the video, a TimeFrame gift card is emailed straight after checkout and can be spent on any keepsake within 6 months.

The common thread

None of these add clutter. They all say the same thing: I know you, I remember, and I wanted you to have this moment back. For the person who has everything, that's the one thing they can't buy for themselves.
