Baby's first Christmas is a strange and lovely thing. They'll sleep through most of it, chew a corner of wrapping paper and be more taken with a cardboard box than anything inside it. They won't remember a second of it, which is exactly why it's worth keeping.
Small traditions to start this year
- The first stocking: one with their name on it that comes out every year
- A bauble with the year on it: the first one on the tree every Christmas from now on
- A letter to their future self: write down what this Christmas was like and seal it until they're eighteen
- The same photo every year: same spot by the tree, every Christmas, so you can watch them grow
Keep the moment, not just the photo
A photo of baby by the tree is lovely. A video of them discovering the tree is even better: the wide eyes, the grab for a bauble, the noise they make when the lights come on.
Our keepsakes hold both. We print your favourite photo onto a crystal glass block or an acrylic plaque, with a line of text if you like, such as "Baby's First Christmas 2026". Then you add a short video. Whenever someone points their phone at the photo, the video plays, so the first Christmas comes back every Christmas after.
A present for new parents
If you're buying for new parents, this is one they won't get three of. Ask them for a photo and a clip from the day, or give a gift card so they can choose their favourite moment once the festive chaos settles.
Tips for filming a baby
- Get down to their eye level
- Use daylight from a window rather than the big light
- Film in landscape if your photo is landscape, and portrait if it's portrait
- Keep it short: 20 to 30 seconds is perfect
